Carroll Independent School District

Board of Trustees

 
GENERAL INFORMATION

The Carroll ISD Board of Education meets on the fourth Monday of each month. The meetings begin with a closed session at 6 p.m. followed by an open meeting at 6:30 p.m. Board meetings are held at the school administration building at 1201 N. Carroll Ave. in Southlake. The Board reserves the right to change meetings to other days whenever necessary and will occasionally call a special meeting or work session. The second Monday of each month has been reserved for special meetings in the event they are needed.

Trustees are elected at-large for three-year terms during staggered years. Board officers are elected annually. Trustees do not receive compensation for their service on the Board.

All Board meetings are open to the public except when the Board adjourns to a closed session to discuss personnel matters and land acquisitions, to obtain legal counsel from the school attorney or to hold a student hearing.

The Board cannot legally act on any item that has not been published in the agenda prior to the meeting. Trustees welcome input from citizens at Board meetings or in writing.

Meetings

The CISD Board will meet on Monday, June 10. The meeting will begin with a closed session at 5:00 p.m., followed by an open session at approximately 6:30 p.m.. Trustees are expected to discuss the 2002-2003 school budget and the hiring of an interim superintendent.  The meeting will be held in the school administration building, 1201 N. Carroll Ave.

Place 1 - Darla Reed

Darla Reed was elected to a three-year term in May 2002. She currently serves as the Board Secretary. She and her husband, Mark, have four children who attend CISD schools.

Mrs. Reed's term ends in 2005.

Place 2 - Dale Crane

Dale Crane was elected to a three-year term in May 2002. He serves as Chairman of the district's Budget and Finance Committee and of the Revenue Enhancement Committee. He and his wife, Lisa, have two children attending CISD schools.

Mr. Crane's term ends in 2005.

Place 3 -Steve Lakin

Steve Lakin was elected to a three-year term in May 2002. He and his wife, Amy, have three children, one a graduate of CHS, and two currently attending CISD schools.

Place 5 - Robert L. Glover

Mr. Glover has been a member of the Carroll Board of Trustees since 1994. In the past, he served as Board President and Board President. He serves as chairman of the district’s Academic and Cocurricular Enhancement Committee and in the past served as a member of the City of Southlake/Carroll ISD Drug and Alcohol Awareness Committee. A former delegate to the Texas Association of School Boards General Assembly, Mr. Glover has served on the district’s Budget and Finance Committee, Technology Committee, and CISD/City of Southlake Joint Utilization Committee (vice-chair). His term expires in 2003.

Mr. Glover serves as the Manager of Customer Assistance for EPRI, an international corporation which provides science and technology-based solutions for the global energy industry. He is responsible for the operation of EPRI’s customer assistance program worldwide as well as offices in Dallas and Columbus, Ohio. Mr. Glover has authored four environmental-related patents and is a licensed professional engineer in the State of Texas. He holds a Bachelors and Masters degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Texas at Austin.

Place 6 - Robin Snyder

Mrs. Robin Snyder was elected to the Board of Education in May 2001 and current serves as Board President. She was Chairman of the district's Academic Cocurricular Enhancement Committee last year. Her Place 6 term expires in May 2004.

Mrs. Snyder received a Bachelor's of Art degree in K-12 education from Hillsdale College in Michigan and completed 24 hours toward a Master's in Art Education from Indiana University in Bloomington. Her teaching experience includes grades 7-12 at Fremont Community School in Indiana and grades 6-8 at Tipp City Community Schools in Ohio.

She serves as President of the Southlake Women's Club and was creator and chair of the Art In The Square Festival in Southlake Town Square. Prior to her service on the Board, she was a member of the Academic Cocurricular Enhancement Committee as a Carroll High School liaison. She served as Student Activities Chair and Co-chair for the CHS PTSO. She also served on the school district's Technology Committee and as chair of the Beautification Committee at Carroll Middle School.

Place 7 - Becky Miltenberger

Mrs. Becky Miltenberger was elected to the Board in May 2001 after serving eight months by appointment. She serves as Board Vice President, chairman of the Technology Committee and served previously as chairman of the Academic Cocurricular Enhancement Committee. Her term expires in May of 2004.

Mrs. Miltenberger holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Music from the University of Missouri. She received a Juris Doctorate, with honors, in 1983 from the University of Missouri School of Law. Before retiring to raise her family, Mrs. Miltenberger practiced corporate/securities law with a Dallas firm.

Prior to becoming a Board Trustee, Mrs. Miltenberger served CISD as a school volunteer and a community member of the Title IX Committee, the District Advisory Committee and the Academic Cocurricular Enhancement Committee.

A number of snack vending machines are electrically operated. There are snack vending machines that are see-through or have fronts which are glass-made. Various snack vending machines can only dispense as little as six or ten types of snacks or it can sell a wide range of snack and beverage choices.
