Frequently Asked Questions

1. Can I place an ad for The Dallas Morning News print classifieds on the Web site?

Answer:
Currently advertisers can place line ads by going to the "Submit an Ad" form on our classified Web site. Soon advertisers will have the ability to place display ads online. You may also place an ad by contacting a sales representative at 214–745–8123.
Keep in mind when typing the text for your ad that it may appear larger or smaller in print. The space provided is an approximation. Each classified line holds 19 to 23 characters that can be affected by capitalization and bold lettering.

2. When I place a classified ad online, should I expect a phone call confirming my order from a customer service representative?

Answer:
At this time our customer service representatives will only call if you specify on the "Submit an Ad" form. If you do require a call back, make sure to provide a number where you can be reached during the daytime. If you need assistance with the ad you placed over the Web site call 214–977–8924 or 1–877–932–2390.

5. What time are your ads posted on the Web site?

Ads placed in the daily newspaper will appear on our Web site only on the day they run in the paper. Classified ads placed in the Sunday paper, however, will remain on the Web site throughout the week following their publication.

6. Are the display ads I see in the printed Automotive, Real Estate and Employment sections on your Web site?

Answer:
Beginning January 2001, weekend display advertisers now have the option of putting their ad online. Display ads from the Sunday New Homes and Sunday Homes sections are featured from the Real Estate index page online and display ads from the Saturday and Sunday automotive sections are featured from the Automotive index page. All other weekend display ads are found in the searchable database.

7. Why can’t I bookmark certain pages of your classified Web site?

Answer:
Most content pages of the Classified Web site can be saved. However, search and result pages can not be saved due to the dynamic content they contain which changes daily.

8. I’ve noticed a number in parenthesis beside each classification. What does that number mean?

Answer:
This is the total number of daily and Sunday ads for the classification posted on our Web site.

9. When I try to use the keyword "4 bedroom" when searching your real estate classifieds, I only get a few results. Can you tell me why?

Answer:
When searching the classifieds keep in mind sometimes advertisers use abbreviations in their ads such as 4 BR or 4/3/2 which translates to 4 bedroom, 3 bath, 2 car garage. You may want to browse the listings under your desired area.

Abbreviations are used in many of our classified listings – for more information on common abbreviations, see Help under search tips.
