Jurors for this year's competition
An international group of prominent pianists, teachers, music-company executives and administrators has been chosen to judge the Cliburn Competition. New this time is the inclusion of a critic.


John Giordano: Chairman of the Cliburn jury for every competition since 1973, he retired last year as music director of the Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra, a position he held for 27 years.

Marcello Abbado: Former director of the Milan Conservatory in Italy, he is a noted pianist and composer and brother of conductor Claudio Abbado.

Joaquin Achúcarro: An internationally noted Spanish pianist, he holds the endowed Joel Estes Tate Chair at Southern Methodist University.


Eileen Tate Cline: Former dean of the Peabody Conservatory of Music in Baltimore, she is an award-winning researcher and author on the subject of piano competitions.


Richard Dyer: Music critic of the Boston Globe and two-time recipient of the ASCAP Deems Taylor Distinguished Critic Award.


Claude Frank: Concert pianist who serves on the faculties of the Curtis Institute in Philadelphia and the Yale School of Music.


Thomas Frost: Senior executive producer for Sony Classical since 1989, he was producer and director of Columbia Masterworks for 20 years.


 

Zhou Guangren: A faculty member of the Central Conservatory of Music in Beijing, she has devoted her energies to popularizing the piano in China.

Andrej Jasiñski: Concert pianist and former head of the piano department of the Katowice Music Academy in Poland. He was chairman of the jury of the 2000 Chopin Competition in Warsaw.


Yoheved Kaplinsky: A native of Tel Aviv, she is head of the piano department of the Juilliard School in New York.


Jürgen Meyer-Josten: German pianist and former head of music of the Bavarian State Radio.


Jean-Marc Peysson: Swiss concert manager who represents many top-tier artists as well as the European tours of Cliburn Competition winners.


Menahem Pressler: Renowned pianist and co-founder of the Beaux Arts Trio, one of the world's most highly acclaimed chamber music ensembles.
