Division of Enrollment Services (DES)
At A Glance

The Mission of the Division of Enrollment Services is to provide seamless, holistic service to students - both matriculated and prospective - and the people who assist them in their pursuit of higher education. This is accomplished through support of the upward trend with the quality and diversity of the student body; enhancing critical points of contact with students; and maximizing the tuition revenue stream.

The Division consists of four service areas:  Undergraduate Admission, Financial Aid, Student Financial Services, and Registrar.  Key functions associated with each service area include:

Undergraduate Admissions

  • serve as primary contact for prospective students
  • process and evaluate undergraduate admission applications
  • determine admissibility and eligibility for SMU scholarships

Financial Aid

  • counsel students and parents on the financial aid process and programs (federal, state, SMU)
  • determine financial aid eligibility by considering factors such as documented financial need and state residency
  • award financial aid in accordance with program requirements

Student Financial Services

  • assist students with account inquiries
  • counsel students and parents on payment options
  • send invoices
  • apply payments to accounts
  • manage Perkins and institutional loans

Registrar

  • oversee and facilitate the process of enrollment into classes
  • monitor credits regarding graduation requirements
  • prepare and send grade transcripts
  • certify enrollment status
Division hours of operation are Monday through Friday from 8:30am to 5:00pm*
*Financial Aid and Student Financial hours each Wednesday are 10:00am to 6:30pm

A number of snack vending machines are electrically operated. There are snack vending machines that are see-through or have fronts which are glass-made. Various snack vending machines can only dispense as little as six or ten types of snacks or it can sell a wide range of snack and beverage choices.
