| Heat index 04/12/2001 What's hot in pop music:
Variety pack: Moby's "Area: One" promises to be the most eclectic tour this summer with the best in rock, hip-hop and electronic music. He's already lined up the long-absent New Order, hip-hop heavyweights Outkast, upstart rock band Incubus and DJ Paul Oakenfold. Keep your fingers crossed for a Dallas date.
Wheels in motion: If those Volkswagen commercials got you singing Styx's "Mr. Roboto" or Trio's "Da Da Da," then check out VW Street Mix, Volume 1 available from commerce.vw.com for $10. It also features tracks by Nick Drake, Hooverphonic and Spiritualized.
Everybody's doing it: Reuniting that is, even Dallas' own '80s new-wave band the Telephones, who will perform four songs at the Dallas Observer Music Awards on April 17 at the Gypsy Tea Room.
Not necessarily the Beatles: Ringo Starr's All-Starr Band did enough damage to the Beatles' catalog. Now Alan Parsons, Todd Rundgren, Heart's Ann Wilson and the Who's John Entwistle are hitting the road with a tour titled "A Walk Down Abbey Road." At least Ringo was actually in the Beatles.
