Curtains for Colby?

04/12/2001

Is it time for him to go?

Internet intelligence, sometimes an oxymoron, for the first time is pointing toward Texan Colby Donaldson as the next Survivor II evictee.

SurvivorNews.net, fanatical in its devotion to the show, lately is raising strong doubts about the "Cowboy" from Christoval, who is among the Outback's final six. Its weekly evictee poll so far has Colby on death row with 34.3 percent of the vote. Amber Brkich is runner-up with 25.4 percent. It's the first time Colby has topped the list, which is bottomed by Tina Wesson with just 2 percent of the vote.

It's also been reported that Colby and last week's castoff, Nick Brown, blurted during an appearance in Las Vegas that they spent some time together on Survivor II's Australian "ranch," holding pen for evictees. Telling slip of the tongue? Perhaps. But maybe all this is a duck-duck-quack-quack wild goose chase arranged by producer Mark Burnett, who definitely is overdue.

Watch for weekly updates on the Overnight page in Metropolitan and Web-only features on The Dallas Morning News' interactive site, including Colby's Corner and Survivor of the Week. Also online:
