SEE Clean Water
There are more than 2,400 miles of regional environmental corridors in the North Central Texas region (see map [PDF]). Some of the issues impacting the water quality of these corridors include:
- Each of our major rivers has sections that do not meet water quality standards due to non-point sources of pollution
- Storm water runoff from developed areas may cause flooding, stream bank erosion, and pollution of streams and lakes
- Lack of natural areas with functioning ecological systems in developed areas
- Increased water supply demands to meet a growing region
The SEE Clean Vision calls for regional environmental corridors to meet or exceeds the state’s standards for public health and enjoyment, aquatic and wildlife protection, wastewater disposal needs, and sustains aesthetically attractive surface water conditions.
