Searching
101: Valuable tips for finding your way around GuideLive The search box on the home page searches the entire site for all topics.
The search boxes on the individual topic pages search WITHIN THAT PAGE'S TOPIC ONLY, unless the radial button to the left of of "Search entire site" is clicked. The search is not case-sensitive. A complete word is necessary to perform an accurate search. Back

Why
aren't showtimes listed on the movie theater pages? Due to our current publishing platform, we cannot display movie times
on the movie theater pages, but we hope to soon. We are working with our
partner, CitySearch, to resolve this issue, and we are confident that
it will not be long until we will be able to display showtimes on movie
theater pages. Back to

Where can I find listings for music at nightclubs? Listings for both rock and country music nightclubs shows can be found from the Music page. See the right-hand column, under "Online Extras."
I
attended a great show Friday night, but when I tried to search for the band on your site on Saturday morning, there was no mention of the event. Why didn't you cover it? Our site previews upcoming events. Once events have occurred, their listings automatically archive in our database and can no longer be found on our site. For reviews of any type of concert or show, please
check Dallasnews.com's Entertainment section.
Why
doesn't GuideLive provide links to the various ticket sellers in the D/FW
area? Actually, we do. Check out our Ticket Sellers information page. Back

I
can't find an index or key to what your labels mean what does $$ translate
to? In the bottom right-hand column of our Restaurants page there is a link
that reads "LEGEND: Star ratings and price key." If you click on that
link, a pop-up window will appear that will show information regarding
our star ratings and pricing key.
Why
don't you include links to restaurants' Web sites? This is an idea we have discussed in the past. At this point, however,
we have made the decision not to link outside of our site to individual
Web sites, except in a few instances. There are many reasons for our policy,
including our inability to monitor off-site content for accuracy and/or
content acceptability, as well as the fear of undermining our own advertising
models, which provide GuideLive-hosted "ad info" sites to businesses that
wish to take advantage of this service.
What
exactly are restaurant ratings based on? For example, I've eaten at several
places and found them wonderful when you've only given them 2 stars.
Our ratings are based on many criteria, including service and atmosphere,
though food quality is rated higher when averaging "stars." Also, though
many burger places have "great" burgers, sometimes the rest of their food
doesn't measure up, and that has to be taken into account as well. So
even if a restaurant had the best burger in town, if it also had poor
service, a substandard atmosphere and other food that was unappetizing
or poorly made, its star rating would reflect those shortcomings.
Why
don't you have restaurant menus available online on your site?
We have discussed adding menus to our restaurant coverage, but because
of the huge number of restaurants in the Dallas-Fort Worth area and the
relative impossibility of ensuring that the menus we have posted online
are current and accurate, we have decided not to pursue this at the present
time. Back
