"Hi!  My name is
Red. E. Fox.
My middle initial
E. stands for emergency.
I teach children how
to be 9-1-1 Heroes."

The Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders give Red E. Fox a "cheer"
as he informs youngsters about the  9-1-1 program ...

The North Central Texas Council of Governments' 9-1-1 Program, in conjunction with the Texas Commission on State Emergency Communications,  provides a comprehensive 9-1-1 educational program for children between the ages of 4 and 7.   The  "star of the show" is Red. E. Fox.

Red. E. Fox appears in an 18 minute video called "The Great 9-1-1 Adventure."  It is available in English and Spanish.  Accompanying the video is a classroom kit that reinforces the information in the video.  The kit includes a poster, stickers, English/Spanish activity pages and English/Spanish emergency phone cards for home use.  The video and kit have been distributed to classrooms and day care centers throughout our 13 county service area.

In addition to the video and classroom kit,  Red E. Fox promotional items include a beanie doll, book covers, trading cards, stickers, and pencils.  A Red. E. Fox costume is also available for use at school events and public gatherings.

NCTCOG’s 9-1-1 Program Receives
Three Awards of Excellence

The North Central Texas Council of Governments' 9-1-1 Program recently received three awards for the Red E. Fox Campaign. Red E. Fox is the national 9-1-1 mascot that is used to teach children when and how to call 9-1-1.  2000 Awards of Excellence were presented to 9-1-1 Program Manager, Christy Williams, from the Dallas and Ft. Worth Chapters of IABC (International Association of Business Communicators). Another 2000 Award of Excellence was received from the DALTON Pen Communications Award Program.

Each year the Dallas Chapter of IABC recognizes the winners of the Bronze Quill Awards.  The Bronze Quill Award was created to recognize the finest work produced each year by business communicators throughout the Dallas area. The winning entry was an external campaign created by Christy Williams who worked with Kristy Keener, one of NCTCOG’s graphic artists, to create the Red E. Fox campaign. The campaign featured the 9-1-1 mascot on trading cards, billboards, book covers, stickers, pencils, and as a beanie doll.

The Ft. Worth IABC also presented NCTCOG with an Award of Excellence for the 9-1-1 Celebrity Campaign.

The DALTON Pen Communications Award Program honors communicators whose projects and programs are exemplary. The same Red E. Fox Campaign that won the IABC awards was entered in the "public service campaigns" category for the DALTON Pen Award.
