The North Central Texas Council of Governments’ (NCTCOG) County Officials Roundtable and its subcommittee on Regional Juvenile Detention requested that NCTCOG help examine the need for multi-county juvenile detention facilities. NCTCOG was successful in securing grant funds from the Criminal Justice Division, Office of the Governor, to conduct a feasibility study exploring the needs for additional bed space, current and future transportation requirements, costs of detention, and other related matters for both pre- and post-adjudicated youth. The study will project needs through the year 2020.

Bill C. Bristow, LMSW-AP, will conduct the feasibility study. For more information, Bill may be contacted by e-mail at , or by phone or fax at (903) 891-8807. Frederic W. Keithley, Director of Human Services and Regional Training, is staffing the project for NCTCOG. He can be contacted by e-mail at , by phone (817) 695-9171, or fax (817) 695-9145.

The purpose of the study is to provide local officials timely and accurate information which they may use to make realistic decisions about future pre and post-adjudicated juvenile detention needs.
