"We must not think of learning as only what happens in schools.  It is an extended part of life.  The most readily available resource for all of life is our public library system."

  Quoted from David McCullough

Children's Book Week Program
NOVEMBER 19 AT 7:00 P.M.

Since 1919, educators, librarians, booksellers, and families have celebrated Children's Book Week during the week before Thanksgiving. Book Week events are held in schools, libraries, bookstores, clubs, private homes-any place where there are children and books. Book Time, this year's theme for the 83rd observance of The Children's Book Council's Children's Book Week , encourages children, and the adults who care for them, to make time each day to spend with a favorite book. Children's Book Week 2002 is November 18-24.

The Library will host a special program to celebrate Children's Book Week. Puppet Wise will be presenting Reading Wranglers Puppet Show. Reading skills, map directions, the shape of Texas, and their different state regions are all explored in this fun, educational puppet show appropriate for young readers ages four and up and for family audiences with elementary school age children. The program will be held on November 19 at 7:00 p.m.

The Friends of the Smith Public Library are now offering coffee for patrons in the Bluebonnet Room. The coffee bar will be open when the room is not in use for scheduled meetings. So, please have a cup of coffee while you relax and read a favorite book or magazine. The schedule is posted at the entrance to the Bluebonnet Room. Come check it out!!!!
