3 sticks butter
3 cups sugar
6 eggs
3 cups flour
3/4 cup 7-Up
2 teaspoons lemon extract

Bring all ingredients to room temperature. Place butter and sugar in the bowl of an electric mixer. Whip at medium to high speed until fluffy.

Lower the speed of the mixer, add eggs 2 at a time and then add 1 cup flour at a time so the batter remains somewhat fluffy. After all the eggs and flour have been incorporated, add the 7-Up and lemon extract. Mix until thoroughly combined.
