Police say woman drove into roommate

Police arrested a woman Tuesday who was accused of trying to run down her roommate in south Irving.

Officers tried to stop Wendy Ashcraft, 22, when they noticed she was driving on a flat tire about 10:54 p.m. Ms. Ashcraft drove the car into a yard near Pioneer Drive and O'Connor Road. About the same time, police received a call that a pedestrian had been hit by a vehicle in the same area.

Ms. Ashcraft and the pedestrian, a 22-year-old man, were roommates. Police said the two were involved in an argument earlier that day. Ms. Ashcraft reportedly told her roommate she was going to damage his car and then left.

Police said Ms. Ashcraft spotted her roommate as he walked to the area of Pioneer and O'Connor. Ms. Ashcraft then ran over the curb and through some bushes and hit her roommate, police said.

The victim had minor injuries. Ms. Ashcraft was arrested and taken to Parkland Memorial Hospital. She was charged with aggravated assault, family violence.

Woman robbed at gunpoint

Police are investigating an aggravated robbery in the 1600 block of Market Place.

Police said a 36-year-old woman was walking to her car about 2:05 a.m. Thursday when a man approached her with a gun.

The man demanded the victim's purse. The suspect and another man then left in a yellow hatchback.

Police said someone tried to use one of the stolen credit cards a short time after the incident at a convenience store in Euless.
