Don Wright, banker, dies at 85
John Donald "Don" Wright, who helped revitalized many neighborhoods as an East Dallas banker, died Tuesday of complications of congestive heart failure at an Atlanta nursing facility. He was 85.

Rites held for Claude Eugene Stinson, minister
Dr. Claude Eugene Stinson, 81, served as senior, associate and interim minister at several churches across the country during his lifetime. He died in Clearwater, Fla., on Sunday after a long battle with cancer.

Soprano and stage director Graziella Sciutti, a frequent performer with the Dallas Civic Opera in the 1960s and '70s, died of cancer Monday in Geneva. She was 68.

TUCSON, Ariz. – Joseph K. Walkup of Garland, Texas, the father of Tucson Mayor Bob Walkup, has died. He was 91.

Beatrice Straight dies at 86
Beatrice Straight, who earned the best- supporting-actress Oscar in 1976 for playing William Holden's estranged wife in Network, has died. She was 86.

Ex-Dallas banker Leland Dupree dies
Leland Smith Dupree dedicated more than 40 years to the Dallas community and its banking industry, serving on numerous boards of directors and working as chairman of many fund-raising drives.

Fort Worth services set for Julius Truelson

CHICAGO – Former Illinois Congressman Frank Annunzio, who represented Chicago in Washington for 28 years, died today. He was 86. Annunzio, who had Parkinson's disease, slipped into a coma about a week ago, a family spokesman said.

Alvin Bennett Jenkins Jr., a former Dallas Morning News telemarketing employee, died Wednesday at Presbyterian Hospital of Plano of pneumonia.

LOS ANGELES – Ed "Big Daddy" Roth, whose fantastic car creations and anti-hero Rat Fink character helped define the California hot rod culture of the 1950s and '60s, has died. He was 69.

Ex-Samuell teacher Jennie Peters dies
Jennie Winifred Hagar Peters taught school for more than 65 years, 43 of them in Dallas. In 1923 she began teaching at age 19 in Oklahoma. She earned her bachelor's degree by attending 20 years of summer school. The heart of her teaching career was a 32-year stint at Samuell High School in Dallas. She continued teaching for another 11 years as a substitute after her mandatory retirement in 1980.

DESOTO – Longtime DeSoto football coach Ben Dial died Thursday morning of an apparent heart attack. He was 58. Mr. Dial, a high school football coach for more than 20 years, was DeSoto's head coach the last nine seasons, compiling a 67-42-4 record.

Nakamura Utaemon VI, star of Kabuki, dies at 84
TOKYO – Nakamura Utaemon VI, a Kabuki star whose skill earned him a designation as one of Japan's living national treasures, died Saturday at his home here. He was 84.
