McKinney Parks and
Recreation offers city facilities for rental for your next special function. Park
Pavillions can be reserved at Towne Lake Park, Finch Park and Erwin Park by contacting the
Community Center at 542-0046. Old Settler's Park pavilions can be reserved at the
Recreation Center on site at 542-5014. The McKinney High School Pool can also be reserved
for private parties and the new inflatable slide is included at no extra charge.

area. Park amenities include a 22 acre lake, lighted hike/bike trails, two picnic
pavilions, restroom/concession services, playground, two sand volleyball courts, nine
lighted horseshoe courts, parking areas, fishing pier, paddleboat rentals, six lighted

Soccer Complex at Wilson Creek
Disc Golf Course - 1986 Park View Drive
Recognized as one of
the highest-quality soccer complexes in the state of Texas. Facility includes six
irrigated fields (2 lighted), restroom/concession services and a 276-car parking area.
Phase II, scheduled for 1997, will provide five additional soccer fields, lighted in-line
hockey facility, restroom/concession services, picnic and playground areas and parking
area. (94 acres)
The Disc Golf Course offers
10 holes of challenging disc golf with convenient parking at the Wilson Creek Soccer
Complex. Free play to the public. Professional quality discs are for sale at the McKinney
Community Center. (18 acres)

Provides two lighted
ball fields, one restroom/concession facility, playground and parking areas. Juanita
Maxfield Outdoor Swimming Pool is also located at North Park and features zero depth play
area, diving, bath house and concessions. Season: June through 1st weekend in August.

McKinney Community Center and
Nature Trail - 2001 S. Central Expressway
- Offers a wide range of
recreational and sports activities. This 22,000 square foot facility offers a wide variety
of classes such as dance, pottery and music for all age groups. Facility includes meeting
rooms, programming rooms with kitchen facilities, game room, crafts room, Weight/Fitness
Club, full service gymnasium, two racquetball courts, video games, shower and locker
facilities, basketball, volleyball, adult softball and flag football leagues. Reservations
for a room or the entire Center are available during non-operational hours for meetings or
special occasions. The Center overlooks a beautiful, wooded area southwest of Towne Lake
and is connected to the Wilson Creek hike and bike trail system and Wilson Creek Nature
Trail. (82.3 acres)
Weight and Fitness Center -
located at the McKinney Community Center, the club consists of eight single-station
Universal weight machines, two Life-Fitness treadmills, a recumbent bike, stairstepper and
free-weight dumbbells. Boasts convenient hours, quality new equipment, low prices, locker
and shower facilities and a great atmosphere. Hours: Monday thru Thursday 6:15 a.m. to 9
p.m., Friday 6:15 a.m. to 7 p.m., Saturday 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Old Settlers' Park and
Recreation Center - 1201 E. Louisiana
Formerly Picnic Park, this
facility was completely redeveloped in 1996 and features a barrier-free playground, two
picnic pavilions, hike/bike trail, native plant area, basketball court, parking and picnic
areas. The Center is a 10,000 square foot multi-purpose facility with activity rooms, game
room, gym with hardwood floor and a unique 8000 square foot covered sports pavilion. A
diverse range of recreational and educational programs are offered for all ages. Open six

school/park site is located next to Valley Creek Elementary School and features an
irrigated soccer field, two practice softball fields, trails, playground and picnic

families a multi-purpose neighborhood park with picnic pavilion and areas overlooking
small lake with hike/bike trails, two playgrounds, multi-purpose court, two irrigated

Completed in 1996, located
along Cottonwood Creek, features a barrier-free playground, picnic pavilion, multi-purpose

Tennis Courts
The City of McKinney offers
lighted tennis courts at two locations. There are four courts, open to the public in the
evenings, behind McKinney High School. Lights can be activated free of charge, in the
evenings (until 11 p.m.). Finch Park offers two lighted courts for public play. Tennis
courts are on a first-come, first-served basis for public play. Court preference goes to
scheduled leagues and school district play. Tennis leagues are offered through the Parks
and Recreation Department.
Aquatic Facilities
The McKinney Parks and
Recreation department operates two aquatic facilities: Jaunita Maxfield Swim center, an
outdoor pool at North Park, open June - August, and the Natatorium, an indoor pool, at
McKinney High School which is open year-round to the public. Aquatic programs include a
Red Cross "Learn to Swim", lap swim, public and family swim, scuba, water
aerobics, diving and M.A.S.T. and Sea Lions Swim
Teams. Private pool rentals are available
by reservation for any size group.
Facility Reservations
Reservations for picnic
pavilion rental and overnight camping are made at the McKinney Community Center (2001 S.
Central Expressway). Weekend pavilion reservations are taken up to six months in advance.
Picnic pavilions are rented in 5 hour increments per day: 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and 5 p.m. to
10 p.m. Pavilions, during the weekdays, are on a first-come, first-served basis. Camping
reservations, available at Erwin Park only, are also made at the McKinney Community
Center. Camp fires are allowed in designated fire rings only, with proof of fire permit.
Youth Sports
The Youth Baseball, Girls
Softball and Soccer Programs are administered by local Parent Associations. The Baseball
and Soccer Associations offer two seasons per year, Spring and Fall. Girls Youth Softball
offers one season per year and begins around the end of May. For more information, contact
the Parks and Recreation Department for the association contact. The Parks and Recreation
Department offers Youth Basketball, In-line Hockey, and 5th/6th Grade Tackle Football.
