Following are some of the special events, services and lectures being held in the Dallas area in March. Events are free unless otherwise noted.

HOLY DAYS

Saturday: Catholics celebrate the feast of St. Patrick, a 5th-century bishop and missionary to Ireland. .

Tuesday: Buddhists who practice in the Jodo Shinshu style celebrate Ohigon. The day is a special time for Buddhists to listen to the teaching of the Buddha and to meditate on the perfection of enlightenment.

Tuesday: Wiccans celebrate Ostara, the return of the Goddess-as-maiden, the courting of the Goddess by the God and the reawakening of the Earth's seeds.

Tuesday: Shintos celebrate Shunki-sorei-sai by holding memorial services to ancestors and active members of the family.

Wednesday: Bahá'ís celebrate Naw Ruz, or the Bahá'í New Year. The day falls on the vernal equinox, symbolizing spiritual growth and renewal.

Wednesday: Zoroastrians celebrate Nowruz (or Naw Ruz) which means New Day and is the first day of the year.

SPECIAL EVENTS

Rose Gala: The Prestonwood Pregnancy & Family Care Center will hold the event from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the DoubleTree Hotel, 7120 Dallas Parkway, Plano. Carol Everett, author of Blood Money – Getting Rich Off a Woman's Right to Choose, will be the featured speaker. Tickets are $50. Reserved seating only. Call 972-820-5111 ext. 6016.

Golf Tournament: Global Missions Fellowship's Great Commission Classic will be from 6:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. March 26 at the Chase Oaks Golf Club, 7201 Chase Oaks Blvd., Plano. Cost is $175. Registration deadline is Tuesday. Call 972-783-7476.

Cross the Line II: The Greater Dallas Prayer Ministry will hold the event on "reaching for racial reconciliation in the body of Christ" from 9:15 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. March 26 at Park Cities Baptist Church, 3933 Northwest Highway. SPECIAL SERVICES

25th Anniversary: Members of New Life in Christ Lutheran Church, 311 S. Cockrell Hill Road, Duncanville, will celebrate at 10 a.m. Sunday. Call 972-296-2035.

39th Annual Women's Day Services: A prayer brunch will be at 9 a.m. Saturday at St. James African Methodist Evangelical Church, 1107 E. Oak St., Denton. The Rev. Eunice Hightower will speak at 11 a.m. Sunday, and Sister Kathy Davis will speak at 3 p.m. Call 940-387-1223.

Dedication Ceremony: The Jewish Community Center of Dallas will dedicate the Glencliff Campus from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday at 2601 Glencliff Drive, Plano. Plano Mayor Jeran Akers will read proclamations. Call 972-599-0022.

LENTEN EVENTS

Lenten Sessions: Holy Family of Nazareth Catholic Church, 2323 Cheyenne St., Irving, will present "The Passion Narratives: Who has it Right?" at 7 p.m. Monday. Sister Saint John Begnaud will speak. Call 972-252-5521.

Lenten Eucharist: Church of the Incarnation, 3966 McKinney Ave., will celebrate the Eucharist at 11:30 a.m. and 6 p.m. Wednesday. Preaching services will be at 12:10 and 7:10 p.m. Call 214-521-5101.

CLASSES

Hebrew Classes: The Dallas Jewish Community Adult Hebrew Institute will begin offering classes the week of Sunday at the Aaron Family Jewish Community Center, 7900 Northaven Road, and the Glencliff JCC campus, 2601 Glencliff Drive, Plano. Cost is $96. Call 214-739-2737.

SPEAKERS

Easter Sermon Series: Dr. Miles Jerome Jones will preach at 11 a.m. Sunday and March 25 at St. John Missionary Baptist Church, 2600 S. Marsalis Ave. His topic will be "Toward Easter...and Beyond." Call 214-375-4876.

Anita Hill: Ms. Hill will speak at 1 p.m. Thursday in the Law Sone Fine Arts Center at 1201 Binkley St., Texas Wesleyan University campus. The lecture is part of the annual Faye C. Goostree Women's Symposium. Tickets are required. Call 817-531-4499.
