Seder meals mark Hebrews' liberation

Passover, which begins at sundown on April 7 this year, commemorates God's liberation of the ancient Hebrews from slavery under Pharaoh. It's celebrated during a ritual dinner called a Seder.

Dallas Home for Jewish Aged – Golden Acres campus will hold the 47th annual First and Second Night Seders at 6 p.m. April 7 and 8 in Kahn Auditorium, 2525 Centerville Road. Cost for each Seder is $25 for adults and $10 for children. Reservations due by Monday; call 214-327-4503.

Congregation Shearith Israel, 9401 Douglas Ave., will hold services at 9 a.m. April 8 and 9, as well as services through April 15. Call 214-361-6606.

Temple Shalom, 6930 Alpha Road, will hold a Community Seder at 6 p.m. April 8. Cost is $28 for adult members before Monday and $32 thereafter; $14 for member children under 12, and $32 and $14, respectively, for nonmember adults and children. Call Frances Schneider at 972-661-1810.

Congregation Kol Ami will hold a Community Seder at 6:30 p.m. April 8 at the Tour 18 clubhouse, FM 1171 in Flower Mound. A Women's Seder will be at 7 p.m. April 12 in the same location. Cost for either event is $30 for adults, $20 for children. Reservation deadline is Tuesday; call 972-539-1938.

Temple Emanu-El, 8500 Hillcrest Road, will hold a Second Night Seder at 6:30 p.m. April 8. Cost is $35 for adult members and $20 for member children under 10, or $45 for nonmember adults and $30 for nonmember children. Reservations are due by Tuesday; call 214-706-0000 ext. 171.

Congregation Ner Tamid, a Reform congregation in Carrollton, will hold a Second Night Seder at 6:30 p.m. April 8 at First Christian Church, 1835 Walnut Ave. Advance tickets cost $10 for adults, $7 for children 12 and younger, or $12 and $7, respectively, at the door. Congregation Tiferet Israel, 10909 Hillcrest Road, will hold a Community Service at 7:15 p.m. April 8, followed by a Seder. The Seder costs $42.50 for adult members and $20 for member children, age 4-10, or $50 for nonmember adults and $25 for nonmember children.
