Rangers 6, Yankees 2
NEW YORK -Jul 31, 2001 , 10:15 PM: Alex Rodriguez, Rafael Palmeiro and Ivan
Rodriguez homered as the Texas Rangers ended the New York Yankees' eight-game winning streak, 6-2 Tuesday night.
The Rangers have won eight of nine to finish out their first winning month (17-10) since May 2000.
Booed heartily by the crowd of 45,978 in his first trip to New York since signing a $252 million contract, Alex Rodriguez hit his
29th home run of the season to lead off the seventh and tie it at 2.
One out later, Ivan Rodriguez hit his 21st homer to chase Ted Lilly (3-4).
Darren Oliver (9-6) won his second straight start after losing four in a row. The left-hander cooled off a Yankees lineup, with
Derek Jeter batting third for just the third time this season, that had outscored opponents 68-25 during the winning streak. |
