| Aikman to join Fox on Monday 04/12/2001 By Barry Horn / The Dallas Morning News Recently retired Cowboys quarterback Troy Aikman will be introduced as a Fox Sports NFL analyst on Monday at a news conference in Irving, an industry source confirmed Thursday. The network is also likely to introduce another former Cowboy to its telecast lineup, former fullback Daryl Johnston. It's expected that Aikman and Johnston will join veteran play-by-play announcer Dick Stockton to form Fox's No. 2 announcing team behind Pat Summerall and John Madden.
"Many of the questions regarding the NFL on Fox next year will be addressed at that time," Lou D'Ermilio, vice president of Fox Sports, said of Monday's announcement.
With Fox having identified St. Louis at Philadelphia as its designated national telecast for the NFL's opening Sunday, Sept. 9, it's likely that Aikman's team will be assigned to the Cowboys' opener that day at Texas Stadium against Tampa Bay.
