| SPORTS
Interns aid in all aspects of sports producing/reporting including gathering, taping, logging and producing live sportscasts. Sports interns normally work 16 hours/week. They are assigned a combination of weekday, weeknight and weekend shifts. Interns will spend time in the field learning how to build a sports story/feature from start to finish. They will also work shifts at the station, learning the aspects of putting together a sportscast. Interns will be taught the basic fundamentals of video tape editing which they will use throughout the internship. Sports interns must have a general knowledge of local and national sports, as well as, an interest in pursuing a career in sports broadcasting. ASSIGNMENTS DESK
Duties include, but are not limited to: scanning newspapers, press releases, tip sheets for stories worthy of coverage; conducting follow-up phone interviews to verify information about stories; and working with the assignments desk manager on special projects. This is the chance for a motivated intern to get lots of hands on experience. Intern will assist production assistants with file video requests and script distribution. They will also have an opportunity to write stories for the newscast and/or go out with the reporter on the story of day.
