England's Queen Mother Treated for Anemia - Aug 01, 2001 03:24 PM
LONDON: The Queen Mother Elizabeth had a blood transfusion Wednesday at a London hospital where she was being treated for anemia three days before her 101st birthday.

She went to King Edward VII Hospital in the morning with inimitable style -- on her own two feet and decked out in one of her fancy hats.

A slight, gray-haired figure in a blue print ensemble and white high heels, she relied on two walking sticks as she made her way from a chauffeured black Daimler up the stairs into the hospital.
