Ordering Procedures:

Each purchaser must appropriately complete the Dallas Central Appraisal District (DCAD) Data Information Available form and submit the form and payment in full to DCAD. DCAD claims no responsibility for ordering of data. It is the responsibility of the purchaser to understand the data files being purchased. Each requestor will be provided technical descriptions of data sold to the public. DCAD is not responsible for recreating data files free of charge due to misordering of data.

Tape Specifications:

All cartridge tapes are created on an IBM 3480 cartridge tape drive which is attached to an IBM 9672-R21 mainframe. This is a non-IDRC 3480 drive and creates cartridges in EBCDIC format with standard label only. The cartridge drive has error recovery features including the ability to write erase gaps and skip over them when reading.

All data sold is produced on magnetic cartridge tapes that have been verified to be readable before they leave DCAD. It is created in an environmentally controlled atmosphere with the cartridge drives calibrated to be within published IBM tolerances.

Cartridge damage can occur if cartridges are exposed to the elements, such as moisture and temperature. The cartridge media should be stabilized for at least 10 hours prior to use to minimize problems. Cartridge drive maintenance and cleanliness have a direct bearing on how well a cartridge can be processed. DCAD is not responsible for recreating data free of charge due to damage caused after the cartridges leave DCAD.

CD-ROM Specifications:

Each CD-ROM includes Alchemy software to read and retrieve the data. Per our CD-ROM vendor, Alchemy must be used as a single user license and installed on only one PC. Additional users require a site license.

Technical Support:

Technical support is only available Monday thru Thursday, 0730-1730. This support is only available to customers who have actually purchased the data directly from DCAD and will terminate 14 days after cartridge tapes and CD-ROMs are signed for.
