Utility bills are rendered every month and represent approximately 30 days of service. There are 2 basis classes of service: Commercial and Residential. The following Residential services are billed on the City of Carrollton utility bill:

Water

  • Water meters are read each month;
  • The water billed represents the water usage since the last meter reading - the prior month;
  • Water is billed in Thousand gallons

Wastewater

  • Wastewater is the average of the water used during the months of January, February, and March;
  • This average is billed to you every month from the April bill through the March bill
  • For example:
  • The water usage at your residence is:
  • January = 30 T gal
  • February = 20 T gal
  • March = 40 T gal Total 90 T gal / 3 months = 30 T gal

    The wastewater billed for the next year from April through March would be 30 T gal per month.

Fees

The fee for late payment of bills was approved by the City Council in 1991 and was established to encourage prompt pay and to cover the cost of the field trip to the premise.

  • There are several ways to avoid the late payment fee:
  • If a customer is in a temporary financial bind and needs more time to pay, under usual circumstance, a pay agreement can be arranged. As long as the terms of the pay agreement are met, the customer is not charged a late fee.
  • Also, if the customer pays the past due amount of a two-month bill by the due date on the bill, a late fee will not be charged.
  • For example, your account billed on July 25 with a balance carried forward from the June billing, and the due date is August 14.
  • If your June balance is received in our office no later than August 14, you will not receive a late notice.
  • If however, you do not pay this amount by August 14, a late fee of $15.00 would apply on August 15 and the total amount of the bill will be due;
  • If the total bill were not paid by August 25, the service would be scheduled for interruption.
  • The fee for restoring the service from interruption is an additional $15.00
  • Restoring the service requires full payment of the outstanding bill and all fees.
