Benefits and Work Schedules

 

Following is a summary of work schedules and some of the benefits available to full-time employees of the Dallas Central Appraisal District. This data is provided for informational purposes only, and may be changed without notice.

WORK SCHEDULES:

  • Over 90% of the Districts’s employees work a four day, 40 hour week throughout most of the year. Employees in the Appraisal Divisions as well as some other positions will work a 4½ day work week during the Appraisal Review Board period, generally from May 1 through mid July. Certain positions in Customer Service and Building Services work a five day, 40 hour week year round. Computer Operators work 8 hour shifts to cover a 7X24 operation. Some divisions may offer flex time programs dependent upon their individual schedules and business requirements.

VACATION:

  • Based on years of service from two weeks after one year to four weeks with fifteen or more years of service

HOLIDAYS:

  • Employees of the District are entitled to ten paid holidays (80 hours) per year.

RETIREMENT:

  • Immediately upon employment, all full-time employees of the Dallas Central Appraisal District become members of the statewide Texas County and District Retirement System. Pre-tax employee contributions of 7% of gross salary are matched by the District.

GROUP MEDICAL INSURANCE:

  • The District makes available and pays the premium for a Health Maintenance Organization Plan for all full-time employees. The optional Point of Service Plan gives our employees the option of selecting either an HMO doctor or another health-care provider at each "point of service."

DENTAL HEALTH PLANS:

  • The District provides for coverage through a Dental Health Maintenance Organization with an option to buy up to a dental indemnity plan.

DEPENDENT COVERAGE:

  • Employees may, at their own expense, purchase dependent coverage for medical and dental plans.

FLEXIBLE SPENDING ACCOUNTS (FSA’S):

  • Both medical and dependent care accounts are available to qualified employees.

LIFE and AD&D INSURANCE:

  • The District purchases term life and accidental death insurance in the amount of 1 x the annual salary up to a maximum of $100,000 for each employee at no cost to the employee. Additional coverage is available at employee expense.

 

SICK PAY AND DISABILITY INSURANCE:

  • The District has a comprehensive income protection program that includes sick pay, salary continuation, and long term disability benefits.

DEFERRED COMPENSATION:

  • All employees may participate in this section 457 tax deferred savings program.

CREDIT UNION:

  • The District offers payroll deduction and membership in the Texas Federal Credit Union.

A number of snack vending machines are electrically operated. There are snack vending machines that are see-through or have fronts which are glass-made. Various snack vending machines can only dispense as little as six or ten types of snacks or it can sell a wide range of snack and beverage choices.
