The University of Dallas recently announced the start of the $37,050,000 Phase II of the University's unprecedented $104 million capital campaign.
Rev. Monsignor Milam J. Joseph, President of the University of Dallas said, "The University of Dallas, as the only Catholic university in North Texas, has a tremendous responsibility to meet the best traditions of Catholic education. We are committed to a much larger role in the intellectual and artistic life of the Dallas-Fort Worth region."
Phase II focuses on funding both new academic resources for students and faculty and building new student life and fitness facilities.
Components of Phase II include:
- A Center to consolidate the Graduate School of Management
- Student Life/ Fitness Center/Athletic Fields
- Endowed Professorships and Scholarships
- Renovation of two dorms
- Rome Campus Improvements
- Funding in support of an auditorium and dining hall
- Funding in support of field house improvements
"We have aggressively and systematically dedicated the last three years building relationships with our alumni and friends, and the University is poised to move into this campaign's quiet phase, " said Ilene Stern, vice president of institutional advancement.
During the "quiet phase" faculty and staff will focus on meeting with alumni in an effort to generate interest in the campaign to raise more pledges, Donna Miller, director of University Relations said.
Raymond E. Wooldridge, board of trustees chairman-elect and chair of the capital campaign steering committee, said, "By finishing Phase I thirteen months early, securing a $1 million challenge grant from The Kresge Foundation and surpassing our goal of $25 million, UD has come of age. I and the other board of trustees members are determined to make Phase II and the entire $104 million capital campaign a success. "

The announcement of Phase II follows the completion of the Haggerty Arts Village, extensive residence halls renovations and campus grounds improvements. The announcement also comes during a period of record enrollment in both the undergraduate and graduate programs.
