Projects in the Making
The City of Carrollton Solid Waste Division is being awarded a grant funded through the Texas Natural Resource Conservation Commission (TNRCC) administered by the North Central Texas Council of Governments (NCTCOG) in the amount of $100,000. The grant will be used to develop a Local Solid Waste Management Plan that conforms to the TNRCC’s Subchapter O guidelines.

The plan will emphasize state-of-the-art waste management practices, including recycling, maximum waste stream diversion, and public education. The plan will also coordinate the directives from the State, the strategic objectives of the North Central Texas Region, and identify the short and long –term needs of the Solid Waste Division.

The development of the plan will include the creation of an Advisory Committee who will provide input, review, and comment throughout the Plan development process. A public meeting, slated for July or August 2001, will also be conducted for formal adoption of the plan. The grant activity will be completed when the formulated plan is reviewed, approved, and adopted by the city and the TNRCC.
