TEA rates district as
acceptable
The Richardson school district earned an academically acceptable rating
from the Texas Education Agency this week, missing being recognized by 1
percentage point.

Sales slow, but homes in some
areas in demand
Richardson home sellers are finally seeing small signs of a market
slowdown, but the dip could be short-lived. Pre-owned home sales are down 5
percent, although some prices are rising dramatically.
Delays likely at
Central
Slow
traffic at Spring Valley Road and Central Expressway is getting slower. Drivers
can no longer make left turns onto Spring Valley from Central frontage roads.
Signs along the freeway urge motorists to use the Midpark or Belt Line road
exits and then return to Spring Valley. Changes took effect Saturday.
Explorers recognized for
achievements
Richardson Police Explorer Post No. 761 celebrated a year of
award-winning teamwork at its annual banquet Thursday. Richardson Police Chief
Ken Yarbrough congratulated nine youths ages 14 to 21 who are "exploring" the
law enforcement field as a possible career. More than 3,000 Law Enforcement
Explorer Posts exist across the country, and there are thousands more in fields
such as fire science, law, zoology and medicine, officials said.
Resident recognized for
work
Richardson resident Lynn Sanders was recognized Friday by the Texas Crime
Prevention Association as the Outstanding Crime Prevention Citizen of the Year.
